International Women’s Day

Today is a major holiday here in Kazakhstan. They are celebrating International Women’s Day ~ it is very similar to our Mother’s Day only it is for all women. Banks and many businesses are closed. EVERYONE has gone to the bakery for a cake and just like at home…we see many men out getting flowers and cake last minute – lol! It is nice to observe the hustle and bustle of a holiday in Kazakhstan.

Our little guy was not himself today. Either he did not get much sleep or his cold is knocking him out. He fell asleep after only a half an hour together. He just wasn’t interested in playing today L Poor little guy. Mommy was more than happy to hold and rock him. Hopefully, he will feel better tomorrow.

We are praying very hard that court is the 16th (although that was only a maybe…we were told it will most likely be the 19th). We are also praying very hard about the waiting period being waived. We know it is highly unlikely, but you never know. Speaking of prayers ~ thank you all for your support, prayers and encouragement. We are overwhelmed by how many people reached out to us from the adoption community. It is greatly appreciated!

Blogger hasn't been allowing me to comment and I've wanted to so badly. I wanted to say how sorry I am about what happened and how strong the 2 of you are to continue seeking the child meant to be yours after what you've been through. Good luck with the rest of your time there.

I will be sending out positive thoughts that your court date will be the 16th and that your waiting period will be waived. Also that your son will be feeling better very soon.

Dawn & Joe, I am so happy to see that God's plan is working in your lives and that you see it unfolding daily. You may not know the reason for what happened, but God does. Put your trust in Him and He will set it all straight. Remember what Joseph told his brothers? What man meant for evil, God meant for good. Good will come out of this experience.

Dawn, so glad you guys are doing better...I'm guessing your new boy has begun to capture Joe's heart too. I have some mundane questions for you since I'll be traveling soon. Things like what's the speed of the internet connection in the apt; is it wireless (that's probably a no). Would you mind emailing me directly so I don't bore everyone else? My email is holland5@sbcglobal.net. Thanks so much and again, we are so relieved and glad for you. Stephanie H.

Your latest blog entry sounds like you are in better spirits. Celebrate that holiday and be proud to be a woman; a mom!! Funny thing about the kids in the orphanages....Grace was always sick there to. But has only had ONE cold since we have been home for 6 months! Interesting I think. I hope you get the waiting period waived. We were lucky to. We brought her back to our flat that day and I stayed an extra 3 weeks. It was awesome to have her "home" with us there in the flat. Anyhow....I am glad you found a baby...and just remember....that baby is SO lucky to have YOU as parents...and you will one day tell his story. I am happy you are holding your baby in your arms, sleeping or not. Love, Tam

Yeah International Women's Day. I am always in favor of any holidays celebrating women. It sounds like you guys are enjoying your time with Stephen. Does he like his tag blanket?

Okay. You sound a little better, so I am a little relieved. Also, you sound very "mommyish" and nurturing, so I think that is a good sign, too. Hang in there. And thanks for the updates. We are all fretting over you.

It was so comforting to read you go from majorly doubting God, to LOL at the antics of the new little boy in your life.

Good luck with court!

I'm so happy that things are working out and you and Joe are on a path toward healing! We are praying for the earliest court date and a waived waiting period.

Thanks, also, for the trip down memory lane. We were visiting our boys in Ust this time last year and remember Women's day. It was so cute when we were in the cafe that day, seeing all the young boys chasing the young girls with flower and candy. It was so sweet. I remember our trip fondly.

Joe and Dawn -
Dinara and I look very forward to the passing of your court date and you speedy return to the US with Stephen. Trust me, as I am in your same shoes...God brought you the right child...I am not sure why it had to be this way because it nearly killed me too. When you get him home to your apartment, then you will feel 1000% sure. - much love, Lisa
