Sleeping angel ~ we can't seem to keep him awake...perhaps we are boring him? That is Sveta in the background. We have to wear masks since he is sick.
We are not half asleep...just a bad picture :)

Today was a little better for Stephen (Stas). His chest sounded clearer. We even got a few giggles out of him by playing peek-a-boo! I can't help but think he will never feel better if they keep putting four layers of clothing on him! And that hat - uuugghh! They won't let us sit on the floor or near windows and doors because they think this is what makes him sick.
We got some information about his birthmother today and his medical history. His birthmother was born in 1975. She left him at the maternity hospital and that is all they have about her. They told us he was born premature, but then said he was born at 36 weeks gestation so that doesn't make sense. His birth was natural...not cesearian. He came to the orphanage at three months old. He has been sick about five times with bronchitis. His muscles are weak since he has been sick and has not had a lot of exercise and 1:1 attention. They said he eats well and sleeps well. He can crawl and sit up, but not always pull himself up to stand. He weighs a bit over 14 pounds...he has actually lost close to 2 pounds from being sick!!! The twelve month clothing we brought is big on him.
The sadest part today was that he was rocking to sooth himself :( I know this is common, but it is so sad. He still did not want much to do with Joe :( Daddy knows it will take some time. He fell asleep in my arms again today. We hope we can get him to stay awake a little more each time. It feels like heaven rocking him in my arms though!!!

Your sleeping beauty is adorable! I hope he feels better soon! I think it says a lot that he already feels comfortable in your arms to sleep. Perhaps, in not too long, they will allopw you to take him to the doctor. It's so great seing the three of you together!!!!!!!!!!
He looks so cute. Can you sneak him some of the medications you brought. Kiddie tylenol ect.?
He is so cute, its so precious to hold a sleepy/cuddly baby. Enjoy it! :-) He will catch up quickly once he is with you 24/7. Until then its so hard to see your child in the babyhome when you know they need you to get well.
Hugs-
Ann
I'm so happy for you! He is beautiful! I hope he gets better soon. Looking forward to reading more in your blog.
Oh my god oh my god oh my god..I am sooooooo excited. How old is he??? You said he weighed 14 lbs......Grace only weighed 12. She was 10 1/2 months old. They DO NOT FEED THEM ENOUGH and Grace was sick when we were there to!!!!!! Get him home and on some normal food and good formula. He needs formula sooooooooo badly.....his little body wants it. I am soooooooooooooo happy for you guys.....the smile on your faces is just awesome to see. woo hooooooooooooooooooo. Love, Tam
Dawn, He is very cute. Enjoy this time with him. How old is he? When will you be coming home?
I've been following your progress on Kazakhstan_Adoption yahoo groups. I'm so happy that you have finally been able to hold your little one. I can remember that feeling when we held our son the first time. Once you get him home, he will grow so fast you won't believe it. Our son was 14 pounds as 10 months and tripled his weight & height the first year he was home....
You'll be suprised how fast you will fatten him up with good food and lots of love.....congrats!!! I've been watching since your countdown.
Oh I am so happy for you Dawn and Joe!! He is a precious baby. I'm sorry he has been sick and so sleepy - just having his Mommy holding him as he sleeps and heals is probably helping him so much!
Dawn, I'm am so happy that the three of you are finally together! He is too adorable--even though he is sick it looks like he is enjoying every minute cuddling with his new mommy! --I have faith that he will be better in no time now that he has both of your love!
He is adorable, I have no doubt that full time luvin from mum and dad will pack on the pounds.
It sounds like he was a month premature, while pregnancy only last 38 weeks a due date is estimated from first day of last period, making your due date 40 weeks later. Thus a 36 week baby is considered a month early.
