I am beyond excited! I can't believe that we will be flying out to meet our son on Monday! I do feel a bit panicked about leaving my home for so long...I am sure those who have traveled can relate. You worry about the house, the pet, the bills, etc... We have someone watching the house of course, but I still feel like I am forgetting something. My dh is getting anxious too.
We want to finish our taxes before we leave and of course - there is a receipt we can't find from donations we made and we are going crazy looking for it. Which Saint is for lost things??? I am Protestant so I forget these things :-)
We may meet our little Valentine on Valentine's Day!!! I can't wait...I will probably knock some people over leaping to hold our son - lol. My husband laughs when I tell him I won't put him down and I am going to look at him every second. He reminds me that there will be days when we are home and our precious prince will test our patience and I will be willing to cut off a limb for five seconds of alone time :-) Hmmm...right now I just can't see it - hahaha.
So, I am wondering - what is your favorite memory of the adoption process? Was it the first time you saw and held your child, the first time he or she was sleeping in his or her crib? I know there are so many special moments, but which is your favorite?

The greatest moment for me what when I first saw my son and he just looked at me. I didn't have the smoothest time in Ust--I was there for a week without a child, so when I finally saw him all the hopelessness, sadness and anger were gone. That was truly the greatest moment. The best of luck to you and your husband. Sheri
I remember the moment my son walked into the room...we hadn't heard that he was walking so it was a complete surprise! I started crying instantly, but couldn't move! Then I asked "can I go to him"...when I got up and started moving towards him, he turned to me and put his arms up to be picked up. He then nestled his head on my shoulder...I think he had a little cold and needed the comfort, but I din't care. It was love at first sight! I will never ever forget that moment...
So many great moments to choose from...I would have to say it was the first time we saw and held our children (both 7 months at the time). It had been 15 months since we started the process and that was the moment when we knew it was real and that our dreams had finally come true.
Soon you'll be holding your son. How wonderful does that sound!
Best wishes for a safe trip.

Oh my gosh..I have so many greatest moments. I still have them. She amazes me. When they brought her into the room for the first time, she was so undernourished, and unsure of everything with her hands clenched so tightly from insecurity and they were holding her outward, not close to them at all.......just to take her into my own arms and hold her close to my body like she should be held..............that was amazing. Wow........goosebumps just thinking about it. She grabbed onto my skin on my back so hard like, "don't let go, take me away from here". I will never ever forget that moment. Right now I am listening to her press the tummy of her musical pooh bear in her crib and thank GOD that she is here in America with ME where she is comfortable, loved, warm, fed thriving and loved. OH MY GOSH get to Kaz already Dawn!! I am looking forward to your daily postings. If you cant post from your flat, just go to the internet cafe. It happens allllllll the time!! xoxooxo Love, Tam
For my son...absolutely the first time I saw him. His ears looked muchbigger than I remembered beacuse he had a close haircaut - they were adorable! He was sacred of Chris, but came and gave me the BIGGEST, LONGEST hug! I knew in an instant all the pain and heartache was worth it, even for just that moment. For my daughter...after getting over the shock ofbringing home a 1 year old rather than a 5 year old, my best memory with her was the day she couldn't stop crying when I put her down. I knew the attachment was being formed and it was wonderful. Also, when we came back to bring her home, she was on the potty when we came into her room. She heard our voices and wanted to come to us, but knew she wasn't supposed to get off that otty so she just kept scooting herself on it over to us. Precious. CAN'T WAIT for you to experience this love, too!
So exciting for you and your husband. The prayer for St. Anthony: dear St. Anthony please come around something is lost and cannot be found. Then you have to look everywhere again even if you checked it twice!!
My best moment with my son was during our first visit he was 7 months old and just snuggled on my chest and fell asleep, now that's he's 4 it's great when he first wakes up and looks at me to say I love you Mom and gives the best hugs.
My daughter was so small and weak when we meet her, she was 9 months. After about a week of visiting she could almost sit by herself and started to crawl but best of all she knew us and gave us the best smilies and laughes. We knew she would would complete our family!

There were many great moments but one of my best memories was the first day we met Rebecca, there were lots of people in the room and excitement. Rebecca had to be woken up to see us and because of the baby houses schedule we only had a few minutes with her that first day. She was crying because she felt scarred with all these new people around her and this new person holding her. I quietly took her over to the other side of the room, just Rebecca and me and I hummed a little song and she calmed down and we made eye contact and she starred so intently and reached for my face to touch me. That initial bonding moment was so intense, for me, I started to cry. It was such a long anticipated moment that I waited for and it finally came and I was with my daughter at last and I think Rebecca could feel something new was about to happen in her life also. I will always remember that day.
