The news is not great, but we are glad to finally have answers from a reliable source. The courts deprived Inna's rights on the 17th of July. She has 15 days to appeal that decision. After that Stephen goes back on the registry for six months. If we want to adopt him we have to do everything all over again. So, essentially, it is as though we were never there and bonded with him already. What a system, right?!?!

That is absolutely horrific. Dawn, I am so, so sorry.
What? Why? Why on earth wouldn't they count your first adoption petition? I'm sickened by this "system".....
New reader here... Found your blog just the other day (through 6 blessings, I think) and have read all your entries... I can't believe everything you've gone through! How awful!! I so wish to see Stephen in your arms forever...
What are your plans now? Or do you know yet?
Again, I am soooo sorry!!!
That's outrageous! Why would they make you do it all over again if you already went to court to adopt Stephen? I just don't understand...
Dawn, I can not understand any of this. I too was the victim of the corruption involved in international adoption. However, my story pales in comparison to yours. For some reason, I think you were called to fight Orson. But when all this is over, I really do hope that your son will be waiting for you even if it takes him 6+ months to get home. I can only imagine the horror you must feel knowing he is in the orphanage and so far away from you.
God bless you all!!
Maria
You are very brave to go public and fight that bastard.
Did you ask if the state dept can step in on your behalf and maybe you wouldn't have to go through the whole process again....the whole system sounds crazy! They know how much you love and want this child why do you have to keep proving yourself to the government of Kaz?
Still praying for Stephen to arrive safe and sound in your arms in the USA!
Dawn,
I am so sorry. I cannot even begin to imagine the heartache that you and Joe are feeling. I think that you need to go with your gut on this. If you think that you are still supposed to have Stephen, keep fighting. It took us two years to get Zhenya.
Brenda
We adopted our son at the end of last year after many false starts and stops. Nothing we went through compares to your situation and when I read this I actually cried. I cannot possibly imagine how heartbroken you are. I hope you are able to take strength in bringing this agency and all involved to some kind of justice. Have you decided what to do? Could your congressman help you out at all?
I am shocked that you would have to repeat the whole process again!!! Absoulutely SHOCKED! It makes no sense whatsoever! I don't know what else to say.....it just seems impossible. The paperwork part is nothing compared to the cost and lets just hope that somehow you are granted the money either by Orsons company or some book or movie deal and then you can have your son without the extra cost. Do you know when your story will be airing on TV yet? Did I miss it? Keep fighting Dawn, this man is dirt and needs to be stopped.
Dawn,
I agree it's unfair - and very difficult - but in the "jumping back on the horse" mode - can you begin the process now so that when the 6 mos comes you will have your invitation or are you required to wait the 6 mos before getting paper ready?
Know that God has placed this child on your heart for a reason - and just as Jacob had to wait for his love - you too will be blessed in His time.
I agree with your comment about Kazakhstan - "What a System!" I had issues during my process, but nothing even remotely close to what you are going through. I complained to the US Embassy about the Kaz adoption process while I was in Almaty in April. The system will prevent me from adopting #2 from the country in the future. You are doing the right thing and fighting for your son and exposing the nasty disgusting man, Orson.
